WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials Women's Gymnastics team returned home to the Smith Center for the first time in three weeks and scored a season-high 192.375 in finishing second in a meet with William & Mary and New Hampshire. New Hampshire won the meet with an even score of 193.000 and William & Mary finished third with a team score of 191.750.
George Washington was once again led by junior Leslie Delima, who scored a 38.525 in the all-around. Freshman Kayla Carto was right behind with an all-around score of 38.475 and senior Megan Quinn scored a 38.350 of her own, which tied a career-high. Sophomore Amanda Murphy was the fourth all-around performer and finished with a 38.300.
The Colonials excelled in the floor exercise, scoring a 48.800 in the rotation and were led by Delima, who scored a 9.875 and won the competition. Quinn also put in a strong routine and scored a 9.825, which was third in the meet. Carto led the Colonials on balance beam with a score of 9.700 and Delima led George Washington on vault with a score of 9.725.
New Hampshire was led in the all-around by Chelsea Steinberg, who finished with an all-around score of 38.800. Wildcat Taryn LaFountain had the highest individual score when she scored a 9.850 on floor.
William & Mary was led by Kristina Beck, who finished with a score of 38.800. The top score for the Tribe was a 9.825 score by Dina McNaughton.
George Washington will return to action this Friday, March 12 when they head to Lexington, KY and take on the Kentucky Wildcats from the SEC. Illinois State is also scheduled to participate in the meet. First rotation is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST
