WASHINGTON, DC - The 2010 GW Women's Gymnastics team's season concluded during last weekend's EAGL Championships, but the Colonials will continue their individual season by sending three qualifiers to the 2010 Morgantown Regional hosted by West Virginia University on Saturday, April 10th.
The six teams that qualified for the team title were the host West Virginia Mountaineers, Stanford, Michigan, Southern Utah, North Carolina State and Kent State. Additionally, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual specialist per event advance to the Regional competition.
Senior Megan Quinn is the first qualifier for the Colonials after competing in every meet this season, she capped off her career with a career-high 38.900 in the all-around at the EAGL Championships. The Syracuse, NY native qualifies for NCAA Regional competition in the all-around after not competing in the all-around her first three seasons on Foggy Bottom. It is Quinn's second time qualifying for NCAA Regional competition.
Freshman Kayla Carto also qualifies for NCAA Regional's in her first season with the Colonials. Carto also scored a career-high 38.700 at the EAGL Championships and will look to continue her rise into postseason competition.
The final Colonial gymnast going to Regional's is junior Leslie Delima. Delima has qualified for NCAA Regional competition in all three seasons at George Washington and has a career-high score of 38.950 in the all-around.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Gainesville, Florida, April 22-24, hosted by the University of Florida.
