GW Swimming Take Fourth at Potomac Relays

WASHINGTON, DC - GW men's and women's swimming kicked off the 2010-11 season at the Potomac Relays hosted by American University. The team took fourth overall, while the men's squad earned third place and the women's squad was fourth.
The men's squad took first place in two different events. Sophomore Niklas Glenesk and Spencer Neff teamed up for the 1000-yard freestyle relay to post the top time, 9:39.99.
In the men's 400-yard medley relay, Phillip Graeter, Andrew Maguire, Zach Peart and Jake Mortensen took first with a time of 3:44.32 for the Colonials.
The men's squad also took second in the 300-yard backstroke, Alex Etz, with Peart and Mortensen, with a time of 2:46.56.
The women's squad had two second place finishes, including the 1000-yard freestyle relay. Freshmen Kristina Martin and Caroline Myers teamed up for the 1000 free for a time of 10:25.91.
Taylor Cole, Martin, Paola Leor and Meyers took second in the 800-yard freestyle relay in a time of 7:52.65.
Cole and Leor teamed up with Sydney Saunders and Sloan Saunders in the women's 500-yard freestyle relay, taking third with a time of 4:45.46.
The Colonials next meet is Oct. 15 and 16 when they take on Catholic and American.
