WASHINGTON, DC-- The George Washington University men's and women's swimming head coach Dan Rhinehart has announced the program has added 15 new swimmers for the 2009-10 season.
"This is one of the largest incoming classes we have had in some time," said Rhinehart. "Every member of this class will make an immediate impact, not only on our team but also in the Conference."
Eleven freshmen will add depth to the men's squad this season and attempt to fill the void left by the graduation of Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Year, David Zenk.
"In losing David we knew we would have to either bring in an individual with comparable times or hope to increase our depth to pick up points David had scored last year," Rhinehart said. "Thanks to a great year of recruiting we were able to accomplish both."
The women's squad will add four swimmers to their ranks, adding much-needed depth in the freestyle and butterfly events.
"This class has a lot of raw talent and we look forward to seeing what these women are capable of once they are incorporated into our system," said Rhinehart.
