Women's Basketball Announces 2009-10 Recruits

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's basketball head coach Mike Bozeman has announced his recruiting class for the 2009-10 season, highlighted by a trio of players ranked among ESPN HoopGurlz top prospects.
ESPN Top 20 point guards Danni Jackson and Janine Davis and Top 34 guard Megan Nipe highlight the Colonials' five-player class, which also includes guard Shi-Heria Shipp and post Nicole Shelton.
"To add these five student-athletes from quality high school and AAU programs reinforces the winning attitude for the future of GW women's basketball," said Bozeman regarding his first recruiting class as head coach of the Colonials.

Helped Forest Park to four state playoff berths, including state title in 2006 and runner-up finish in 2008 ... First team All-Met by The Washington Post in 2009, second team All-Met in 2008 ... Averaged 23.5 points, second-most in DC Metro area, as a senior in 2009 and finished four-year career with 1,797 career points ... Chose GW over offers from Wake Forest, Radford, Temple, South Florida and Middle Tennessee

Helped Cougars to three consecutive Northwest Suburban Conference titles (2007-09), earning All-Conference honors each season ... Two-time Pioneer Press All-State pick and Star Tribune All-Metro selection ... Owns 15 records at Centennial, including career points (1,855), rebounds (859), field goal percentage (55.4%) and free throw percentage (80.3%) ... Eagles finished season 25-3 overall and ranked seventh in USA Today Super 25 rankings ... Averaged 12 points, seven assists and three steals as St. Michael claimed Archdiocese title in 2008 ... Eagles totaled 50-5 overall record in Davis' final two seasons.
Bozeman on Davis: "Janine is a combo guard who is capable of stretching the defense with her shooting range. She is a great defender and brings great experience after playing for one of the top high school programs in the country."

Bozeman on Shipp: "Shi-Heria will bring a great deal of versatility to our backcourt. Offensively, she handles the ball like a point guard and defensively, she can step out to defend the wing. Her versatility will enable us to pressure opponents a number of different ways."
