Davis Named Assistant Coach for GW Women's Soccer

WASHINGTON, DC - Lane Davis, a former assistant coach at the University of California at Riverside, has been named assistant women's soccer coach at The George Washington University, GW head coach Tanya Vogel has announced. Davis replaces former assistant coach Neel Bhattacharjee, who resigned in March to accept a similar position at Boston College.
Davis comes to GW after serving two years as the assistant coach at UC-Riverside where he worked as the primary goalkeeping coach and recruiting coordinator. While at Riverside, Davis also coached Arsenal FC team based in Alta Loma, CA. A native of Wichita, KS, Davis has an extensive experience as a goalkeeper coach for Region II Olympic Development Program and with the state ODP teams in Missouri and Kansas.
"I am ecstatic to bring Lane Davis into our program," Vogel said. "We are aiming to return to the A-10 Championship and Lane brings the experience, knowledge and passion to help move our program forward. He is driven and possesses the edge we need to achieve our goals this fall."
Before spending three years as a volunteer assistant coach the University of Kansas, Davis coached boys and girls soccer for a total of 13 seasons at the Kansas high school level.
In 2005, Davis was hired at Missouri State University as an assistant coach where he was responsible for training goalkeepers and implementing a new strength and conditioning program.
A 1999 graduate of Wichita State University with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Davis earned his Master's of Education in Sports Administration from Kansas in 2002. Davis holds a NSCAA National Diploma and has earned his NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma. He also carries a National "A" License from the United States Soccer Federation.
