Swimmer Zenk Tabbed A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senior David Zenk has been named the Atlantic 10 male Student-Athlete of the Year as the Conference named the 10-member 2009 Swimming and Diving Academic All-Conference Teams, Thursday, as voted on by the Conference sports information directors.
Zenk, a Biology major with a 3.41 grade point average, will finish a prolific swimming career after graduating from The George Washington University. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer for a third time in his career, a first in Conference history, at the conclusion of the 2009 A-10 Swimming and Diving Championships.
At the 2009 Championships, Zenk placed first and broke meet records in the 200-yard backstroke (1:45.67), 200-yard individual medley (1:48.35) and 400-yard individual medley (3:52.17) events. He also recorded a NCAA "B" qualifying time in the 400-yard individual medley at the Championships.
Zenk will graduate with his name atop five different GW team records, including the 100-yard freestyle (45.18; 08-09), 200-yard freestyle (1:38.71; 08-09), 200-yard backstroke (1:45.67; 08-09); 200-yard individual medley (1:48.35; 08-09), and the 400-yard individual medley (3:52.17; 08-09).
He is also in GW's men's swimming All-Time Top Ten times in 50-yard freestyle (No. 2; 20.51), 100-yard backstroke (No. 2; 49.82) and 100-yard butterfly (No. 6; 51.04).
