The George Washington University Women's Gymnastics team returns home tonight for its second home meet off the season as they take on defending EAGL champion West Virginia tonight at the Charles E. Smith Center at 6:00 p.m. in the annual "Pink Meet".
The Colonials find themselves 8-3 on the season after three meets and an average score of 192.100 on the season. In the home opener (GW/Lindsey Ferris Invitational), the team finished second in a field of six teams, only losing to champion North Carolina by .025 points. The team then hit the road to Rutgers University and won the meet, beating three other opponents in the victory.
George Washington continued their road trip last weekend in Morgantown, West Virginia and finished third in a tough field to come to their current 8-3 record. The season-high score of 192.900 in the season-opener and have a season-high score of 48.650 on beam in the same meet.
Sophomore Leslie Delima has led the Colonials in the three meets so far and has an average of 38.700 in the all-around. Senior Kristen Simpson's score of 9.825 on vault is a team-high and junior Christa Devine is the holder for the team-high scores on both bars and beam, with a 9.800 on bars and a 9.775 on beam this season. Delima and junior Megan Quinn both have 9.825 scores on floor, which are tops so far this season for the Colonials.
The Colonials will return to action later this week, when they travel to Raleigh, NC and take on NC State, as well as a rematch with North Carolina and William & Mary. The meet will take place on Thursday, February 13 and is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
