WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington Colonials Women's Gymnastics team returned home after two consecutive weekends on the road to record their highest score of the season at 193.150. The West Virginia Mountaineers were up to the challenge though as they put together a team score of 195.125 to defeat the Colonials.
The Colonials got a big lift from senior Kristen Simpson who recorded three very strong routines, including a 9.850 on vault, 9.700 on beam and 9.825 on floor. Her floor routine was tied for first in the meet and her vault score was tied for third. Senior Bree Plotsker also had a big beam routine scoring a 9.750, which was good for third in the entire meet.
Freshman Amanda Murphy led the Colonials in the all-around by putting up a score of 38.675. Junior Christa Devine was the high scorer for the Colonials on the uneven bars with a score of 9.725.
The Colonials will return to action later this week, when they travel to Raleigh, NC and take on NC State, as well as a rematch with North Carolina and William & Mary. The meet will take place on Friday, February 13 and is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
