WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's basketball team plays its first of four straight home games at Charles E. Smith Center Monday evening against Western Kentucky at 7:00 pm.
GW (2-7) is in the midst of a seven-game losing skid following a 63-53 loss at George Mason Tuesday and will look to avoid setting a new program mark for consecutive losses against WKU Monday night. Sophomore Tiana Myers, who paces the Colonials in scoring at 12.4 points per game, led the team in scoring for the third game in a row with 14 points against the Patriots.
The Colonials and Lady Toppers have split the four meetings in the all-time series with the home team winning each time, including victories by the hosts in each of the last two seasons. GW rolled to an 80-63 victory in the 2007 GW Thanksgiving Classic, while WKU posted a 72-64 win in Bowling Green, KY, last year.
WKU (5-6) has dropped its last two games and four of its last five following a 76-60 loss to 19th-ranked Pittsburgh at home last Tuesday. Dominique Duck, who was named to the 2007 GW Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team, posted her third consecutive double-double with 13 points and 10 boards against the Panthers.
Duck is part of a well-balanced Lady Toppers' lineup as nine players average more than 10 minutes and seven average more than 5.0 points. Amy McNear paces the team in scoring at 10.5 ppg, followed by 9.6 ppg and 10.6 rpg from Arnika Brown and 9.0 ppg from Duck.
