BRONX, NY - George Washington travels to Bronx, NY, to face Fordham Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm in search of its first road victory this season. The Colonials have won all 14 of their previous meetings with the Rams by an average of 26 points, including six wins by an average of 23.8 points at Rose Hill Gym, the nation's oldest Division I basketball facility at 84 years old.

GW (8-8, 1-1 A-10) snapped a four-game losing skid, its longest in six years, with a 66-60 home victory over Saint Joseph's Wednesday night. The win was the Colonials 16th straight against league opponents at Smith Center and prevented the team from starting 0-2 in league play for the first time in 21 seasons. Redshirt sophomore Ivy Abiona scored seven of her team-leading 11 points during a 19-2 run bridging the first and second halves to help the Colonials hold off the late-charging Hawks.
In the teams' previous meeting last March, GW allowed its fewest points against an A-10 opponent in a 66-27 rout of Fordham in the regular-season finale in Washington, DC. The 27 points also marked Fordham's lowest output since the NCAA began sponsoring women's basketball in 1981.
At 7-10 entering Saturday's game, Fordham is enjoying a solid turnaround from last year's record 0-29 finish and a 35-game overall losing streak. The Rams won seven of their first 13 games, but have since dropped four straight, including losses to Massachusetts (71-62) and Saint Louis (64-48) to begin Atlantic 10 play.
FU's quick resurgence can in part be attributed to its schedule, which ranks 309th most-difficult according to collegerpi.com and features only one team ranked inside the RPI Top 100 (Georgetown - 59). The Rams can also hang their success on a pair of newcomers - junior transfer Randall Hurst and freshman Becky Peters, who combine for 24.2 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. The Rams have also completed their turnaround without returning leading scorer and 2008 A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Megan Mahoney, who transferred to Wagner earlier this season. Mahoney averaged 15.4 points, including 17.8 ppg in A-10 play, last year.
