LOUISVILLE, KY - For the second straight tournament, GW sophomore Brendan Barrack (Toronto, ONT) was the low Colonial after he fired a three-round 219 (70-78-71) to tie for 32nd place at the Louisville Cardinal Intercollegiate tournament, Monday and Tuesday, in Kentucky. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Louisville, was held at the par-72, 7,001-yard Cardinal Club. The Colonials placed 11th in the 15-team field.
Colonials' junior Sebastian Palomares (Bogota, Colombia) carded the lowest round by a Colonial this season when he fired a first-round 67. Palomares tired in Monday's second round and shot an 86 before shooting 73 in Monday's final round to tie for 58th place, among 77 entrants, with a 226. Palomares' teammate, Lewis Sturdy (Keston, England), also shot a 226 (78-76-72).
The host Cardinals of Louisville won the event with a 30-under-par 834, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Eastern Kentucky (843). EKU's Trey Bowling was the individual medalist with a 16-under 200, including a pair of 65s, to defeat Kansas State's Robert Streb by four strokes.
The Colonials are idle for two weeks before competing in the 54-hole Xavier Invitational, Oct. 13-14, at Loveland, OH, near Cincinnati. The event will take place at the par-72, 6,921-yard Oasis Golf Club.
