Gymnastics Finishes Seventh at 2008 EAGL Championships

Final Stats
MORGANTOWN, WV - The George Washington University gymnastics team finished seventh at the 2008 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships with 192.975 points. West Virginia took the team-title with 196.050 points. North Carolina State (195.475) finished second followed by New Hampshire (194.550); North Carolina (193.950); Maryland (193.375); Pittsburgh (193.175); the Colonials and then Rutgers (189.025) followed the Mountaineers.
Despite a season-high on vault (48.825) and matching last week's season-high on floor (48.900), the Colonials struggled on both the bars and beam, which sealed a seventh place finish.
GW was led on vault by junior Kristen Simpson's 9.850, which tied her for fourth overall. Senior Carolyn Marckesano, Junior Erin Quigg and freshman Leslie Delima all recorded a 9.750. Senior McKenzie Parrack rounded out the vault with a 9.725.
Parrack and sophomore Megan Quinn led the Colonials on floor with a pair of 9.825s, both career-highs. Delima recorded a 9.800, while Marckesano and fellow senior Gillian Coleman each posted a 9.725.
Sophomore Lindsay Tom led the Colonials to a 48.000 total on beam with a 9.650. Quinn and Delima were second on the team with a pair of 9.625s. Sophomores Christa Devine and Danielle Parretti both scored a 9.550 as well.
The uneven parallel bars really did the Colonials in despite solid performances by junior Bree Plotsker (9.725), Coleman (9.625), and Parrack (9.600). Leslie Delima posted a 9.250 and Quinn finished with a 9.050 as GW finished with 47.250 points on the apparatus.
The conference championships marked the final meet for several Colonials this season. Individual qualifiers for NCAA Regional competition will be announced in the next few days.
