Nine GW Gymnasts Named To EAGL All-Academic Team

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced today that nine George Washington University gymnasts have been named to the 2008 EAGL All-Academic Team. In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in the two previous semesters or a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Freshmen are also eligible, if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
Seniors Carolyn Marckesano and McKenzie Parrack were both named to the All-Academic Team for the fourth straight year, every year the Colonials competed in the EAGL thus far. Junior Kristen Simpson earned the honor for the third consecutive year. Sophomores Christa Devine, Danielle Parretti, Megan Quinn and Lindsay Tom also received the honor in their second straight season. Junior Bree Plotsker and freshman Kirstie Viens received recognition for the first time in their careers.
A total of 87 student-athletes from the eight East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) schools have been named to the 2008 EAGL All-Academic team, announced by the EAGL sports information office today.
New Hampshire and West Virginia tie for having the most honorees; they both placed 13 gymnasts on the team. Fourteen of the 87 gymnasts were honored for their fourth year.
