Gymnastics Heads To Kent State Friday Night

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University gymnastics team will look to set another season-high in its head-to-head meet at Kent State, Friday, February 8 at 7:00 pm. In their last two meetings, the Colonials have set then season-highs with last year's 193.750 remaining the high for the season. Also in last year's showdown at the MAC Center, then freshman Lindsay Tom won the beam with a then season-best 9.725.

On Super Bowl Sunday, GW set a season-high 192.075 points behind a pair of season-bests on bars (48.275) and beam (48.075). Junior Kristen Simpson recorded the best showing on the day for GW, with a seventh place finish on vault (9.775). Sophomore Christa Devine and senior McKenzie Parrack both posted a 9.725 on bars, while senior Gillian Coleman earned a 9.700 for the fourth straight meet, dating back to last season's Eastern-Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships. Three gymnasts set season-highs on beam: Sophomore Lindsay Tom (9.700), junior Bree Plotsker (9.650) and freshman Kirstie Viens (9.625). Senior Carolyn Marckesano led GW on floor with a 9.700 and freshman Leslie Delima scored 38.400 in the all-around.
Behind season-high scores in every event, Kent State dominated Ohio State and Bowling Green to win the All-Ohio Gymnastics Meet Sunday afternoon at the M.A.C. Center with 195.150 points. Individually, Kent State won three of five events. For the fourth straight meet on vault, freshman Christina Lenny emerged as the event champion. Lenny won vault with a personal best mark of 9.875. Senior Kristin Peters received a mark of 9.825 and won for the second straight week on bars. On beam, senior Jill Kowalski tied a career-best with a score of 9.800.
