WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington returns to action for the first time in 14 days to host the Troy Trojans in the first-ever meeting between the two programs at Charles E. Smith Center Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The Colonials are in Game 4 of a program-record seven-game homestand at Charles E. Smith Center, while the Trojans are playing their first of five consecutive games on the road.

GW (4-3) has been idle for a fortnight following its 71-59 loss to #7/9 Tennessee Dec. 2. The sixth largest women's basketball crowd (3,459) in Smith Center history saw GW come within a possession of taking the lead with less than five minutes to play, but Tennessee used a 15-5 game-ending run to escape. The loss snapped GW's 17-game home court winning streak, which ranked ninth-best in the nation at the time and is the fourth-longest in school history.
Freshman Tara Booker, who led GW with a career-high 14 points off the bench in GW's loss to the Lady Vols, leads the nation in three-point shooting at 61.5 percent (16-of-26).
Following Tuesday night's meeting against Troy, GW will likely face a nationally ranked opponent in three of its next five games, including a pair of Top 10 teams. The Colonials host #10/11 Auburn at Smith Center Friday, Dec. 19, before wrapping their seven-game homestand with Princeton and Loyola (MD). GW then starts a three-game road swing Dec. 29 at #14/13 Rutgers, followed by a trip to College Station, TX, to face #4/3 Texas A&M Jan. 3. Combined with its Dec. 2 meeting against #7/9 Tenneessee, GW could potentially face three Top 10 teams during the regular season for the fourth time in program history (2006-07, 1994-95, 1990-91).
Troy snapped a three-game losing skid Saturday with a 93-54 victory against Spring Hill College, an NAIA-sponsored institution located in Mobile, AL. Preseason third team All-Sun Belt selection Kylie Morrissy scored a game-high 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting against the Badgers as the Trojans posted their highest point total under seventh-year head coach Michael Murphy.
Tuesday's game kicks-off a season-long five-game road swing for the Trojans, who bring a roster with six international players to the District for the first time in program history. Morrissy, who leads Troy in scoring at 15.1 points per game, is one of five Australians on the team, along with starters Larelle Roper and Alyce Shearing and reserves Sarah McAppion and Danielle Realph. Troy's three-game losing streak began Nov. 28 with a 53-48 loss to Richmond in the Chattanooga Classic.
