FAIRFAX, VA -- GW senior David Zenk won three events while sophomore Paola Leor broke her own school record in the 100-yard freestyle in the three-day Patriot Invitational, Friday-Sunday, at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Zenk, who returned to the water after missing a few weeks with an injury, picked up where he left off last season by winning the 200 IM, the 100-yd backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke at GMU's Jim McKay Natatorium.
Leor broke her own school record in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of :51.05 in placing second in the event behind Mason's Ashley Danner (:50.68).
The GW men placed seventh of eight teams on the men's side while the GW women placed sixth in the eight-team women's field. UMBC won both the men's and women's team titles for the event.
Outstanding individual performances on the women's side for GW included senior Ariana Berdini second-place finish in the women's 200-yd backstroke final in the time of 2:23.70 while freshman Isabel Tawney also took second in the women's 100-yd backstroke with a time of :57.67.
On the men's side, freshman Davin Harding took third in the men's 200-yd butterfly with a time of 1:53.80 shaving a tenth of a second off his preliminary time in the event.
