KITTY HAWK, NC -- George Washington's Cole Turner was the low Colonial with a two-round 147 Tuesday at the 29th ODU/Seascape Collegiate tournament. Turner fired a first-round 67 Monday equalling the lowest round by a Colonial this season at the par-70, 6,131-yard Seascape Golf Links. Turner's first-round 67 was the lowest round in the two-day event and had him sitting atop the leaderboard Monday night. The Colonials finished fifth in the 15-team field ahead of three other A-10 teams. It marked GW's highest finish in the event since it tied for second at the 2005 Seascape.
The host Monarchs of Old Dominion won the tournament by seven strokes over runner-up Campbell. Liberty's Tobias Pettersson and Jim Bea of Saint Joseph's tied for medalist honors with even-par 140s but Pettersson was awarded the first-place trophy because the Hawks had to leave early eliminating the chance of a play-off.
GW's Brendan Barrack was the second-lowest Colonial after firing a 150 (74-76), seven strokes off the pace and tied for 27th. Teammate Max Hamm also had a strong showing with a 151 (72-79) to tie for 29th.
The ODU tournament closed out the Fall portion of the 2008-09 schedule. The Colonials resume play in February at the 54-hole Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Feb. 23-24 at Hilton Head, SC.
