ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - The George Washington women's soccer team allowed goals in the 71st and 85th minutes to fall at St. Bonaventure, 2-0, in an Atlantic 10 Conference match Friday afternoon.
GW (6-7-0, 2-3-0 A-10) put eight of its match-high 16 shots on target, but St. Bonaventure (7-6-0, 2-3-0 A-10) goalkeeper Nicole Markert turned away all eight attempts to end the Colonials' two-match winning streak overall and three-match winning streak against the Bonnies.
The Colonials peppered Markert with six of their eight shots on goal in the second half and senior Erica Wright had a shot hit the post in the 53rd minute in the loss.
The Bonnies broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 71st minute when Kaitlin Krisko sent a header off a corner kick past freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe. SBU added an insurance goal just over 14 minutes later when Courtney Bosse finished a cross from Emily Buccilla.
Rowe, the A-10's leader in total saves, made three stops on 14 shots faced. Senior Meg Pyle and sophomore Kristen Slack led GW's attack with four shots apiece, with Pyle putting all four of her attempts on goal.
GW visits Duquesne for an A-10 Conference match Sunday at 12:00 pm.
