McKenize Parrack Named EAGL Specialist of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Junior McKenzie Parrack (Richardson, TX) has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week for her performance on March 18, at GW's home finale, it was announced by league officials on Tuesday. The weekly honor is the first for any Colonial gymnast this season, and the first of McKenzie's career.
In the tri-meet versus Rhode Island, and nationally ranked, Ohio State, Parrack helped lead the Colonials to a second place finish by winning the vault competition with a 9.825. A native of Richardson, TX, McKenzie also scored a 9.75 on the floor exercise which was good for fifth overall, and a 9.7 on the uneven parallel bars.
One of the most consistent performers for GW in 2007, Parrack is averaging a 9.6 in two of her specialty events this season, and nearing that mark in a third, with her best event being the vault. She is second on the team with a 9.675 average on the vault, and has hit that mark in all but two meets this season. In a dual meet versus James Madison on Feb. 26, at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center, Parrack stuck her landing to record a 9.9 on the vault, which is her career high, and also ranks second on GW's all-time vault record list.
The Colonials will be back in action on Friday, March 23 at 7:00 pm, when they travel to North Carolina to take on the host Tar Heels, William & Mary, and Rhode Island in a quad-meet. GW will close out its regular season at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships on Friday, March 30 at 6:00 pm, at the Comcast Center in College Park, MD.
