David Zenk Takes Three Individual Races at URI Invitational

KINGSTON, RI - The George Washington University men's swimming & diving team returned from winter break to compete in the Rhode Island Invitational against conference rivals Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and La Salle this past weekend. Sophomore David Zenk took home three individual titles for the Colonials: the 200-yard IM (1:54.19), the 400-yard IM (4:06.22), and the 200-yard backstroke (1:51.93).
Seniors Jeff Cohn and Dan Mahoney, as well as junior Jonathan Sabin and freshman Cascade Tuholske also earned two top five finishes apiece. Cohn and Mahoney went neck and neck in the 200-yard freestyle with Jeff taking second in 1:47.96, and Dan finishing third two hundreths of a second later. Cohn also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.55, while Mahoney took fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.09.
Sabin captured a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 53.23, and third in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.31. Tuholske took third in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:59.10, and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in 54.35.
The men also rounded out a successful two-day invitational with a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:13.46.
The Colonials are home at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 12:00 pm to take on the George Mason Patriots.
