BRONX, NY - The nationally-ranked George Washington women's basketball team plays its first Atlantic 10 Conference road game of the season against Fordham at Rose Hill Gym in Bronx, NY, on Friday at 7:00 pm.
No. 12/14 GW (12-2, 1-0 A-10), which is riding a five-game winning streak, will be searching for its 13th consecutive victory versus the Rams. A win would match the second-best start in program history at 13-2 set by the 1990-91 squad. A victory would also leave head coach Joe McKeown one shy of his 400th at GW.
The Colonials are coming off a 57-50 triumph over league-rival Richmond at the Smith Center on Tuesday. Sophomore Jazmine Adair posted her first double-double of the season, fourth of her career, with 11 points and 10 rebounds against the Spiders. Senior Kenan Cole and junior Whitney Allen led the way with 14 points and six rebounds apiece. GW and Richmond square off again on Saturday, Feb. 3, a game that will be broadcast on CSTV.
Fordham (2-13, 0-1 A-10) has lost its last seven games. The Rams dropped their league opener, 80-65, at La Salle on Tuesday despite a Gola Arena-record 33 points from senior Lisa Carrol. Carrol is averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game. First-year head coach Cathy Andruzzi is 1-1 all-time against GW after playing the Colonials in each of her final two seasons as coach at East Carolina in the early 1980's.
GW returns to the Smith Center on Sunday to host Massachusetts at 2:00 pm.
