
Swimming and Diving Ends Regular Season Against Army

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University seniors Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) and Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/ Severna Park) competed for the final time in the Colonials' Smith Center Pool on Saturday against Army, as Moss won two individual events and Adam took one.
Overall the women were victorious against the Black Knights, 121-116, but the men suffered a 165-64 defeat.
Moss led the Colonials with first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.22) and 200-yard individual medley (2:13.62). She also anchored GW's first place 200-yard medley relay team (1:51.56).
Freshman Laura Myers (Cedarburg, WI/Divine Savior Holy Angels) also posted two individual wins and swam on the first place 200-yard medley relay squad. Myers took first in the 50-yard (25.34 seconds) and 100-yard (55.88 seconds) freestyle.
Adam took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.73) with sophomore teammate Mark DeSimone (Stamford, CT/Westhill) finishing second (2:34.53).
The men also earned a first place relay finish, as juniors Jeffrey Cohn (New Orleans, LA/Isadore Newman) and Daniel Mahoney (Oakland, CA/Bishop O'Dowd), sophomore Jeff Glazer (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) and freshman Tom Pullen (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) combined to take the 200-yard freestyle.
In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, seniors Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley) and Caitlin Hyde (Fairless Hills, PA/Bensalem), and juniors Monica Pampell (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque) and Shannon Ma (Kennisaw, GA/The Walker School Kennisaw, GA/The Walker School) also combined to take the event.
Other first place GW finishes included senior Nicole Cadman (Riva, MD/South River) in the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.30), and freshman Ariana Berdini (Woodstock, GA/Etowah) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.38).
The Colonials next competition is the Atlantic 10 Championships scheduled for Feb. 15-18 in Buffalo, NY.
