Stack, Aiken Lead Gymnastics at NC State Quad Meet

RALEIGH, NC - The George Washington University gymnastics team finished with a team total of 192.100 to finish fourth in a quad meet hosted by East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) member NC State Friday night in front of 1,624 fans at Reynolds Coliseum. Fellow EAGL member North Carolina was also in the meet along with Denver.
The Colonials posted scores of 48.4 on vault, 48.325 on uneven bars, 46.65 on beam and 48.725 in the floor exercise. GW's team total marks the fourth straight meet in which it has scored 192.1 or better.
Senior Amy Stack (Matthews, NC) was GW's top performer on vault with a season-high score of 9.775 to place eighth overall out of 24 competitors, while senior co-captain Erin Aiken (Centerville, VA) finished ninth with a mark of 9.75. Aiken also posted a total of 38.125 in the all-around.
On uneven bars, Stack led the way once again finishing in a tie for ninth with a score of 9.75. Sophomore McKenzie Parrack (Richardson, TX) was the Colonials' next best finisher at 9.725 to tie for 13th.
Freshman Bree Plotsker (Wantagh, NY) recorded a score of 9.35 on beam to claim 14th to pace GW in the event, while sophomore Carolyn Marckesano (Reston, VA) was 15th with a 9.25.
Aiken posted a 9.8 or better on floor for the second straight meet to finish in a tie for sixth in the event along with junior Maggie Parrack (Richardson, TX), who also posted a season-best score of 9.8. Marckesano earned a tie for ninth with a score of 9.775 to help GW post its second-best event total on floor this season.
The Colonials have a short turnaround before their next event when they travel to Chapel Hill, NC, on Sunday, Feb. 26, for a tri-meet hosted by North Carolina with NC State.
