WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington hosts Richmond today at noon at the Charles E. Smith Athletic. The Colonials (18-6, 11-2) have won their last 11 games at Smith Center and last four games overall to move into a tie for first place in the Atlantic 10. GW was helped in the standings when today's opponent Richmond (11-14, 6-7) defeated Charlotte, 82-64, on Friday. GW and Charlotte play next Sunday to conclude the regular season.
GW won the last meeting at Richmond on January 29 by a score of 70-59. The Spiders are on a three-game winning streak with victories over Rhode Island, No. 23/22 Temple and then-conference leader Charlotte. Yet Richmond has not beaten GW since November 23, 1982, in the second meeting between the teams. Since then, the Colonials have won the last 11 meetings between the teams.
After today's game, the Colonials go on the road to face No. 23/22 Temple who they had beaten by 17 points at home earlier this season. The last regular season game for the Colonials is against Charlotte at home next Sunday. The A-10 conference tournament starts at Saint Joseph's on March 3rd but the top for teams in the tournament get a first-round bye.
