
Women's Tennis Defeats Towson, 6-1

MONTCLAIR, VA - The George Washington University women's tennis team defeated Towson, 6-1, on Friday, Feb. 10, for its second victory of the season in a non-conference match at the Montclair Country Club. The Colonials dominated the Tigers winning four of their singles matches in straight sets, while also taking the doubles point.
In singles play, senior Anastasia Skavronskaia (Miami, FL), sophomores Kendall Swenson (Shaker Heights, OH) and Tracy Stecko (Lake Forest, IL), and freshman Madhuri Jha (Oak Brook, IL) each won their second straight matches at the first through fourth positions, while junior Rachael Honig (Worcester, MA) needed three sets to down Amanda Scaturchio at No. 6.
The Colonials also swept the doubles point led by junior Mara Frisch (Tucson, AZ) and Jha's 8-5 victory, their second straight, at the third position.
GW also was scheduled to face Georgetown on Sunday, Feb. 12, but the match was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Colonials (2-1) return to action when they travel to Penn State on Saturday, Feb. 25, for a non-conference match at 12 p.m.
