Women's Basketball at Duquesne Tonight in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Colonials (15-6, 8-2) are on the road for two games this weekend, starting with Duquesne (9-13, 4-7) at 7:05 p.m. tonight at Palumbo Center. The Colonials are currently tied for second in the Atlantic 10 with No. 19 Temple who they beat by 17-points on January 11. Duquesne is in ninth place in the conference with Sunday's foe, St. Bonaventure, tied for last with GW's last opponent Saint Louis. GW and Duquesne have already met 46 times with GW taking a 41-5 all-time record.
The Colonials have won the last two meetings with the Dukes. Both wins came last year in a two-week span including a 32-point victory at Palumbo Center where the Colonials have a 17-5 all-time edge. GW's last loss to the Duquesne, however was in Pittsburgh in 2004 when the team lost by 17-points. Previous to that loss, GW had won the previous 21 meetings spanning ten years and dating back to February 5, 1994. In fact, the Colonials have won 38 of their last 40 contests with the Dukes, dating back to 1986.
GW has a positive scoring margin of 13.5 while Duquesne has gotten outscored by opponents by 4.5 points per game. In their last game, GW won by 38 points and scored 84 points against Saint Louis including a season-high 49 first-half points. Duquesne lost by 35 points at home to Temple in their game last Sunday. GW averages almost seven more rebounds per game than Duquesne. So far this season the Colonials are a perfect 12-0 when outrebounding opponents.
After playing tonight, GW will travel to Olean, NY tomorrow and play St. Bonaventure at noon on Sunday. GW then returns home, where it enjoys a 10-game home winning streak, for two games next weekend. The Colonials take on La Salle at 7:00 p.m. next Friday at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. GW plays Richmond for a second time on Sunday at noon, a game that will be aired on A-10 TV.
