SAN DIEGO, CA - Christmas has come and gone, it's time to play basketball again. The No. 17/16 GW women's basketball team hits San Diego State's Cox Arena hardwood on Thursday at 7:00 pm EST to face No. 11/10 Georgia in the Surf 'N Slam Classic.
GW and UGA are meeting for the second time. The 10th-seeded Colonials defeated No. 7 Georgia, 74-72, at Storrs, CT, in the first round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament.
The Colonials, who moved up two spots in both national polls earlier this week, are coming off a 12-day layoff for final exams and the holiday's to take on the Lady Bulldogs, their third SEC and ranked opponent of the season.
GW will be without head coach Joe McKeown, who is recovering from Dec. 18 surgery to repair a ruptured Patellar Tendon in his right knee. Assistant coach Mike Bozeman will handle the coaching duties at the Surf 'N Slam Classic.
