WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's basketball team climbed two spots in both national polls this week, moving to No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 16 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll.
GW (9-2) improved its ranking despite being inactive last week, due in part to losses by California and DePaul. It was the third straight week the Colonials jumped in the AP poll and second consecutive Coaches' Poll improvement. GW has been idle for 10 days following its 62-51 victory over Auburn at the Smith Center on Dec. 16.
The Colonials arrived in San Diego early Tuesday afternoon and now have two full days to prepare for their first game in the Surf `N Slam Hoop Classic against No. 11/10 Georgia on Thursday at 7:00 pm EST.
