Stadler Named to A-10 All-Rookie Team

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington men's soccer freshman Andrew Stadler was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, as chosen by the league's head coaches and released by the conference office on Wednesday.
Stadler, who was named to the conference's preseason All-Rookie Team in July, led GW's 14-member freshman class in scoring with six points on a goal and four assists. One of four Wisconsin natives on the Colonials' roster, Stadler is the eighth men's soccer player to be elected to the A-10 All-Rookie Team since the inception of the award in 2000.
Stadler started 11 of 17 matches played this fall, tying for the team lead in shots (38) and pacing the squad in shots on goal (18). He was the A-10's Co-Rookie of the Week on Oct. 23 after posting a career-high three points on a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory versus Xavier on Oct. 22. Stadler established a career-high with two assists in GW's 3-0 triumph over Massachusetts on Sept. 29 and added an assist in a season-opening loss against Georgetown on Aug. 25.
Rhode Island's Jeffrey Gonsalves was tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Year, while Richmond goalkeeper Eric Sciocchetti was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Saint Louis brought home the three other conference awards as Rob Viviano was named Rookie of the Year, John DiRaimondo was named Student-Athlete of the Year, and Dan Donigan was chosen Coach of the Year.
GW closed the 2006 season with a 5-9-3 overall record and 2-5-2 mark in A-10 play.
