WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington men's soccer team will make-up its postponed Atlantic 10 Conference match at Richmond tomorrow night, October 24, at 7:00 pm.
The original match, scheduled for October 6, was postponed after 15 minutes of play due to worsening field conditions at First Market Stadium caused by heavy rain.
The Colonials are coming off a key 2-1 victory against Xavier at Mount Vernon Field yesterday, a win which kept the team in contention for an A-10 Tournament berth. GW and Fordham are tied for seventh place in the league standings with eight points, while Xavier holds the sixth, and final, position with 10 points.
Both the Rams (Temple, Saint Joseph's) and Musketeers (Richmond, Charlotte) play their final two matches at home, while the Colonials will play their final two matches on the road. The Spiders clinched a spot in the A-10 Tourney by beating Fordham, 2-1, at home on Sunday and are competing with Saint Louis, Rhode Island, Charlotte and Duquesne for seed order.
GW will be looking to return to the conference postseason for the first time since winning the A-10 Tournament title in 2004. The team is 6-1-3 all-time against the Spiders.
