Ouimet Promoted to Associate Head Coach

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington Assistant Men's Soccer Coach Jake Ouimet has been elevated to the position of associate head coach effective immediately, Head Men's Soccer Coach George Lidster announced on Wednesday, August 24. Ouimet, now in his seventh season with the Colonials, will take on more responsibility in the areas of on-field training and fundraising in addition to his duties as administrative and recruiting coordinator.
"Jake has shown great loyalty and dedication to the GW men's soccer program and he deserves to be recognized for his work," Lidster said. "He came here seven years ago as an inexperienced coach and he has grown professionally every year on and off the field."
Ouimet joined the Colonials in 1998 and his efforts have helped the Colonials win two Atlantic 10 Championships, including the school's first in 2002. GW has also advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice since Ouimet has been on the coaching staff (2002 and 2004). On an individual level, six Colonials have earned A-10 all-conference honors since he has been with the program, including Matt Osborne, who ranks second at GW in career scoring (110 points).
Ouimet began his coaching career at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA as an assistant coach for the boys' varsity soccer team. He coached at Woodson for two seasons before joining Lidster's staff.
As a standout player at the University of Maine from 1992-96, Ouimet was the 1992 North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year. He holds the Maine record for career goals and was a three-time regional All-American. He graduated from Maine in 1996 with a degree in business administration.
In the professional ranks, Ouimet competed for the Worcester Wildfire of the A-League from 1997-98, leading the team in points and goals. He was named to the A-League Team of the Week on July 20, 1997. Ouimet also played for the Cape Cod Crusaders of the USISL from 1998-99 and led the squad in points and goals. He was named the USISL Player of the Week on July 8, 1998.
