Beck to Participate in 2005 National Team Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Freshman Kimberly Beck has been selected by USA Basketball to participate in the 2005 National Team Trials held from May 19-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Beck is hoping to secure a spot in the World University Games training camp, which will take place from July 28-August 5, where the 12-member World University Games Team will be selected.
Beck, the reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year, became the third freshman to ever lead the conference in assists at 5.12 per game. She also averaged 8.0 points per outing and helped the Colonials to a 23-9 overall record and its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance. Beck was selected as the league Rookie of the Week six times and finished second in the conference in steals average at 2.16 per contest.
The World University Games squad will be headed up by Harvard head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith and compete at the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey from August 11-21. Pokey Chatman of LSU and Cathy Inglese of Boston College will serve as assistant coaches.
Sixty of nation's top players are invited to the trials, which will also include the selection of the U-19 National Team that will compete in the 2005 FIBA World Championship. Beck will be joined at the trials by LSU's Seimone Augustus, Duke's Alison Bales, UCLA's Nikki Blue, Michigan State's Lindsay Bowen and Ohio State's Jessica Davenport, among others.
