GW Aims for Fifth Straight Win

WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials women's lacrosse team (8-2, 2-0) returns to conference play when it hosts St. Bonaventure (7-1, 0-1 Atlantic 10) on Friday, April 8 at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex at 3:00 p.m. GW will be looking to tie the school record with its fifth straight triumph and establish a new program standard with its ninth victory of the season.
The Colonials matched the school record with its eighth win, defeating Division II Longwood, 11-10, on April 6. Sophomore Laura Hostetler scored at least five points for the third straight game with two goals and three assists against the Lancers. As of the last statistical reporting period, Hostetler ranked seventh in the nation in goals per game (3.77) and ninth in points per game (4.77).
Senior Jenny Heisler and classmate Heidi Mayer each tallied three points in the win and sophomore Meredith Hotarek recorded her first career goal.
GW has outscored its opponents, 106-81, and is giving up 7.99 goals per game, which ranks second in the Atlantic 10.
The Bonnies have played nothing but road games thus far and won't play a home game until April 15 when they host Massachusetts. St. Bonaventure's only loss of the year came at Duquesne, 10-5, on April 1. The Bonnies routed Robert Morris, 16-2, in their most recent outing on April 2 in a rain-shortened contest.
St. Bonaventure leads the A-10 in several team statistical categories including, goals per game (15.75), assists per game (7.75), ground balls per game (29.75), points per game (23.5), draw controls per game (15.0), and shots per game (36.12).
Nicole Motondo ranks fourth in the league in goals per game at 3.0. She also leads the team with 34 total points. Three Bonnies sit atop the A-10 assists per game list. Kelly Chevez (1.75), Montondo (1.25) and Megan Muphy (1.14) occupy the top three positions. St. Bonaventure also has the reigning conference Rookie of the Week in Kimberly Ross, who netted her first career hat trick in the Bonnies' win over Robert Morris.
The Colonials have dropped two of their three previous meeting with the Bonnies, including an 11-4 loss last season. GW knocked off St. Bonaventure, 15-8, in the 2003 season finale for its only win of the season.
