Richmond shot .528 from the field (28-53) with eight three-pointers on its way to defeating St. Bonaventure, 75-56, in the final game on Day 1 of the Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.
Johanna McKnight tallied a game-high 16 points off the bench for the Spiders, who will face E#2 Rhode Island on Saturday, March 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
The Spiders used a 10-0 run to turn a four-point margin into a 14-point advantage, 25-11, with 8:32 left to go in first half. Richmond extended its lead to 18, 38-20 on a three by McKnight with 2:03 to play in the period and took a 38- 24 margin into the locker room.
Richmond (22-6) continued its hot shooting in the second half, outscoring the Bonnies, 37-32, to produce the final score. It also finished the game with seven blocked shots, including four by Kelly Roche. Second-team all-league honoree Saona Chapman notched 13 points and dished out eight assists and DeUnna Hendrix added 12 points.
Audrey Latendresse led the Bonnies (9-19) with 13 points, while Caitlin Crist grabbed a game-best nine boards.
