Men's Soccer Team Takes to the Road Again Saturday

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington men's soccer team (1-2-1) continues its six-game road swing when it searches for its second win of the season at Towson on Saturday, September 18. GW is coming off a 3-1 loss at American on September 15. It was the first time the Colonials allowed more than one goal in a match this season.
Junior goalkeeper Derek Biss entered the week with the best goals-against average (0.60) among Atlantic 10 keepers and now owns a 1.19 GAA. He has made 18 total saves this season and has a .783 save percentage.
Senior captain Trent Wilee netted his first goal of 2004 versus American. It was the second tally of his career. Junior Steve Brown recorded an assist on the play, the 14th helper of his career. Brown is one helper shy of tying Kenny Emson for 10th on GW's all-time assists list. Junior Jon Allen leads the Colonials with four points on the season.
The Towson Tigers saw their three-game unbeaten streak end on September 15, losing 2-0 to Georgetown. The Tigers are now 3-2-1 and have split their first two home matches of 2004. They defeated Philadelphia University, 3-0, in their season-opener at on September 1 before falling to Georgetown.
The Tigers have outshot their opponents, 92-62, and have recorded an assist on eight of their 10 goals.
Sophomore Sebastian Haensel leads the squad with six points (two goals, two assists). J.C. Cole, a senior ranks second on the team with two goals for a total of four points.
Junior Zak Thompson has started five of Towson's six contest in goal. He has played a total of 486:44 and recorded two shutouts. He owns a 0.74 goals-against average and a .875 save percentage.
The two schools have split the last two pairings. Wilee notched his first career goal in GW's 4-1 victory against the Tigers last year. In 2002, Towson shut out the Colonials, 4-0.
