Update: Aguilar Named to Spanish Olympic Team

WASHINGTON, DC - Former George Washington women's basketball star Elisa Aguilar '00 has been named to the Spanish Olympic Team. The 5-foot-8 guard tallied 10 points in an 87-53 triumph against Poland on August 8 to clinch a spot on the final roster. Spain's head coach, Vincent Rodriguez, selected the 12-player roster that will represent the country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece following the team's victory over Poland on Sunday night. Spain will play the United States in its final exhibition game on Monday, August 9 before heading to Athens for the start of Olympic competition. Spain's first game in the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament will be against the Czech Republic on August 14. Spain is a member of Group B. The United States, China, New Zealand, Korea and the Czech Republic round out the six-team group, with the top four squads advancing to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
