GW Looks to Break Winless Streak

WASHINGTON, DC - GW's men's soccer squad (1-7-3, 0-2-2 Atlantic 10) will attempt to break its nine-game winless streak this weekend. The Colonials will play at A-10 opponent Duquesne on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7:30, and tangle with league rival St. Bonaventure in Olean, NY on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
The Colonials have taken their last three opponents to overtime and lost, 2-1, in two extra periods against Massachusetts in their most recent outing on Oct. 10. GW sits in 11th place in the A-10 standings. Junior Jon Allen is tied for eighth in the league in goals with four and total points with 10.
Duquesne is tied for the top spot in the conference with Dayton and La Salle. The Dukes are 7-5 overall and own a 3-1 mark in A-10 play. Duquesne has won four of its last five outings. The Dukes rank second in the league in shots (184) and have allowed the second fewest goals in the conference (13). Goalkeeper Zach Varga holds the best goals-against average in the Atlantic 10 (0.99) and is tied for the most shutouts in the conference with three.
St. Bonaventure has lost its last three contests and managed only two goals in those pairings. The Bonnies are 5-5-1 overall after beginning the campaign 4-0-1 and are 1-3-0 in A-10 conference action. Andy Garcia leads the team and is tied for fifth in the league with 12 total points. Konrad Paszkowski is tied for fifth in the conference with five goals. The Bonnies' Andy Garcia is the A-10's top assist man having dished out eight helpers so far in 2004.
The Colonials have lost their last two meetings with the Dukes and have split their last two encounters with the Bonnies.
