Women's Basketball Unanimous Pick to Win the West Division

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Atlantic 10 released their preseason picks as selected by the coaches and media, naming the George Washington women's basketball team the early favorite to win the West Division, and voted four players to preseason all-conference teams.
GW, the 2002-03 Atlantic 10 Champions, received all 15 first-place votes for the western division, marking the second-straight season the Colonials have been the unanimous pick. Also receiving accolades were last season's A10 Player of the Year, senior guard Cathy Joens and the 2003 A10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player, senior center Ugo Oha who both were voted to the Preseason First Team. Oha, who has recorded 255 blocks as a Colonial, was also voted to the All-Defensive Team.
Junior forward Anna Monta?ana who averaged 9.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season, was named to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team. Freshman Corinne Turner also was recognized by the conference coaches as one of the top newcomers to watch, voting her to the All-Rookie Team.
The Colonials begin their 2004 campaign on Friday, November 21, in a 7:00 pm game versus local rival Georgetown.
