Cathy Joens Named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior guard Cathy Joens earned her second Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award after leading the Colonials to a 2-0 record last week with victories over Xavier and Saint Joseph's.
Joens averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two conference victories. She shot a torrid 58.1% (18-31) from the field and 63.6% (7-11) from beyond the arc. Versus Xavier on Jan. 19, Joens led all scorers with 24 points, adding seven rebounds, three assists and a steal while hitting 10-15 shots from the floor. She followed the stong outing with another solid effort at Saint Joseph's where she scored 21 points on 8-16 shooting, including 5-7 from beyond the arc.
Joens and the Colonials have won eight-straight games, and are undefeated in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 6-0 record. Joens shares this week's award with Duquesne's Beth Friday.
