WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University has announced its 2002-03 women's basketball schedule, which features five 2002 NCAA Tournament teams, including Sweet 16 member Brigham Young and Final Four participant Tennessee.
The Colonials host the BYU Cougars at Smith Center Wednesday, December 11, at 7:00 p.m. and travel to Knoxville, TN, to face the Tennessee Lady Vols on November 26 in a 7:00 p.m. game.
In other non-conference action, GW will face two more NCAA Tournament teams, hosting Florida and traveling to Syracuse. The Colonials also have scheduled home games against Howard, Virginia Commonwealth, George Mason and Fairfield, while they hit the road to take on DePaul, Rutgers and Georgetown.
In Atlantic 10 Conference play, GW will defend its West Division title when the Colonials play home-and-home series versus Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle, Richmond and Xavier. In A-10 East Division match-ups, GW hosts Massachusetts, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure and heads to Fordham, Saint Joseph's and the defending A-10 Champions, Temple in a nationally televised game on ESPN2.
Head coach Joe McKeown returns for his 14th season at GW after posting his 11th 20-victory season in 2001-02. The Colonials return all five of their starters, from a well-decorated team that includes four A-10 All-Conference players: seniors Lindsey Davidson and Cathy Joens, junior Ugo Oha and sophomore Anna Monta?ana. With a talented and experienced squad returning to the court, the Colonials are primed for another successful season.
