WASHINGTON, DC - The second annual Rehoboth Beach Invitational, hosted by The George Washington University, will be held on Monday, April 15, at Kings Creek C.C. in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Kings Creek has hosted the 1996 ECAC Championship, the 2000 Delaware State Open, and the 2001 Williamson Cup on the par-72, 6,600-yard course.
The event will be contested over 36 holes, with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start and a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Teams from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia will compete. Three teams that have participated in recent NCAA tournaments highlight the field. Iona will be back to defend their title from 2000. The Gaels also won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship in 2000 and 2001 and participated in the 2000 and 2001 NCAA Championships. Virginia is a regular participant in the NCAA Championship and Towson played in the 2000 NCAA Championship at winners of the American East Conference title. The host Colonials of George Washington were runner-up in 2000 and are coming off a second-place finish at the GW Invitational at Swan Point Yacht and Country Club. Other teams to watch are American, Villanova and Temple.
