McCalla Named Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 27) - George Washington senior Devin McCalla (Dallas, TX/J.J. Pearce) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Performer of the Week for gymnastics, the Conference office announced. This marks McCalla's fourth Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honor this season.
On Saturday February 23 against the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI, McCalla managed first place performances on each apparatus, including a tie on the uneven bars (9.825). She was awarded a 9.850 on beam and a 9.900 on the floor exercise, while achieving a new season high on the vault with a 9.850. She finished the all-around with a score of 39.425 logging her third all-around first place finish this season.
McCalla ranks first in the Atlantic 10 on the balance beam (9.900), the vault (9.850) and in the all-around (39.450). She also ranks second on both the uneven bars (9.900) and the floor exercise (9.925). The Colonial senior is ranked 20 nationally.
McCalla was first recognized this season with an Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honor for her contribution to GW's win at the GW Invitational on January 20 after her first place finish in the all-around. On January 27, she received accolades for her second consecutive victory in the all-around with her combined score of 39.450, which matched her 2001 season high. Her third Atlantic 10 honor, received on February 3, recognized her continued top scores and contribution to her team.
McCalla and the Colonials next compete on Friday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Raleigh, NC at the Wolfpack Invitational, when they face Central Michigan, James Madison, NC State, North Carolina and William and Mary.
