WASHINGTON, DC - The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Washington University senior guard Cathy Joens (Irvine, CA/Calvery Chapel) Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for women's basketball after strong performances in two GW victories.
Joens averaged 23 points over two games, as the Colonials (3-1) topped visiting Virginia Commonwealth (Dec. 1) and beat the Orangewomen at Syracuse (Dec. 7). Versus the Rams, Joens set a career-high in points with 28, adding eight steals, six rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes of play. Against Syracuse, Joens poured in 18 points with five assists and four rebounds in a 67-66 victory.
