Women's Soccer Announces Two Signees
WASHINGTON, DC (May 9, 2001) - The George Washington University women's soccer team has signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2001 season, head coach Tanya Vogel announced today.
The two student-athletes are: Meghan Cracker, M/F, Lake Oswego, OR, Lakeridge High School, Club: Lake Oswego Sting "We are very excited to have Meghan join our program. She is an electric young lady with the desire to achieve excellence on and off the field. She has won three state championships with her club and has the type of personality that will keep the whole team smiling throughout the season," Vogel said.
Sydney McCall, M/D, Muir Beach, CA, Leysin School, Switzerland, Club: Marin Rockers "Sydney brings a unique international flavor to our program. She has been playing with a men's team in Switzerland this past year as she attends the Leysin American School. Before leaving the U.S. to study abroad, Sydney played for the Marin Rockers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her leadership has been exhibited by being the captain of her high school team for three years and her club team for the `99 season. We are looking forward to having Sydney join our program," Vogel said.
GW finished 5-14 overall in 2000 and tied for sixth in the Atlantic 10 with a 4-6 record. The Colonials will return 21 players from last year's squad including forwards Erin Coppedge (Annapolis, MD/ St. Mary's), an All-Atlantic10 Second team selection last year, and Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/ St. Joseph's), an All-Atlantic10 Rookie team selection.
