WASHINGTON, DC (May 29, 2001) -- Colin M. Lennon, a 1996 St. Lawrence (NY) University graduate, has been hired as the assistant women's soccer coach at The George Washington University, Athletic Director Jack Kvancz announced.
"Colin will be the first goalkeeper coach we have had in our program since the 1994 season and his vast array of experience will help our goalkeepers immensely," head coach Tanya Vogel said.
Lennon joins GW after serving three years as an operations manager at Ignition Inc. in New York, NY, preceded by two years as a professional goalkeeper trainer at Paul Mariner Soccer in Phoenix, AZ, and two years as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence. At the Paul Mariner School, Lennon developed training programs for youth goalkeepers, conducted general and private sessions for goalkeepers and traveled to Japan to manage the Goalkeeper School at Mt. Fuji. At St. Lawrence, Lennon was responsible for developing lesson plans, mapping individual student athletes' progress and recruiting. He also developed the Goalkeeper School of Excellence to train area high school goalkeepers. From 1996-1998, Lennon played professionally for the Phoenix Suaharos, the Vermont Voltage as well as Home Farm/Everton in Dublin, Ireland.
