Golf Places 13th at Rutherford Intercollegiate

STATE COLLEGE, PA (Apr. 30, 2001) -- GW senior Ryan Day (Lamoine, ME/Ellsworth) shot a six-over-par 222 (73-73-76) in the Rutherford Intercollegiate golf tournament, Friday and Saturday at the par-72, 6,535-yard Blue Course in State College, PA. The tournament was hosted by Penn State University.
Day tied Princeton's James Milam for 20th among 79 individuals. Junior Thomas Blankvoort (Curacao, Netherlands Antilles/Hague) was GW's second-lowest scorer with a 224 (77-77-70) which tied for 25th place.
As a team, GW placed 13th in the 15-team field with a team total of 915 (307-304-304). Penn State won the event with a combined 863, 19 strokes ahead of second-place James Madison (882). Penn State's Andy Latowski won the event with a 212, two strokes ahead of Princeton's Cassidy Traub for individual honors.
