Xavier Edges Women's Basketball, 86-84

CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) - Jennifer Phillips scored seven of her 11 points in overtime, including a layup with 44 seconds left that gave No. 15 Xavier the lead for good in an 86-84 victory Sunday over George Washington.
Phillips hit two free throws to tie the game at 81 with 1:23 left. After Corrin Reid made a free throw that put the Colonials ahead with 1:01 left, Phillips gave Xavier (19-2, 9-1 Atlantic 10) an 83-82 lead.
The Colonials (16-7, 10-1) jumped out to a quick start, building a 21-8 lead with 8:40 left in the first half. Xavier cut the lead to three by halftime as Taru Tuukkanen scored seven of her 28 points during a 9-3 run.
Nicole Levandusky hit a layup with 15:18 left in regulation to give Xavier its first lead at 44-43. George Washington rebuilt the lead to 70-65 with 3:42 left on a layup by Elena Vishniakova before a 3-pointer by Levandusky and a layup by Reetta Piipari tied the game at 70.
Tuukkanen hit a foul shot with 6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 75 and send it into overtime.
Erica Lawrence led George Washington with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She was 11-of-13 from the field. Kristeena Alexander finished with 16 points and Vishniakova had 15 points.
Levandusky finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for Xavier. Tuukkanen also had 12 rebounds, and Phillips finished with 10 boards.
