WASHINGTON, DC - Mike Hall, a senior at Alan Shepard High School in Palos Heights, IL, has signed a national-letter-of-intent to play basketball at The George Washington University, head coach Karl Hobbs has announced.
A 6-foot-6, 180-pounder who plays the wing forward, Hall is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds a game for the Astros (6-1). Hall is ranked the seventh-best senior in the state of Illinois by IllinoisHoopStars.com. Shepard High, located near Chicago, is the 9th-ranked high school boy's program in the state of Illinois. Hall, who also was recruited by Princeton, is considering medical school at GW.
"Of our four early signees, Mike is the most versatile," Hobbs said. "He's got terrific size, he's a good perimeter shooter and ballhandler and he's a real good athlete. Probably the best part of his game is that he can defend small guys as well as big guys. Academically, he's as good as it gets."
In addition to playing for Shepard, Hall has played for the 2001 AAU national champion Illinois Warriors under coach Larry Butler. "Mike is a very unselfish player, offensively," Butler said of Hall. "He's a very good rebounder, passer and ballhandler and he can defend well."
GW's recruiting class for 2003, which includes three other early signees, is ranked No. 22 in the nation and tops in the Atlantic 10 Conference by RivalsHoops.com.
