Men's Soccer Shut Out By Hawks, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA, PA (Oct. 14) - George Washington men's soccer dropped to .500 on the season (5-5, 2-3) after a tough 3-0 loss to the Saint Joseph's Hawks at Finnesey Field.
After playing to a stalemate for the majority of the first half, SJU junior Kevin Schmidt headed home the Hawk's first goal off a strong throw-in to the mouth of the goal by sophomore Tom Brislin just before the break (41:13).
GWU didn't help their effort when the defense made a solid play to stop an offensive run by the Hawks, but caught GW senior keeper, Nick Parypinski off-guard when they directed the won ball toward him. The pass slipped past Parypinski into the Colonials' goal, and giving SJU a 2-0 early in the second half (48:11).
The Hawks would add one more score mid-way through the second half when SJU's Adam Duffy scored his first goal of the season at the 61:39 mark. Duffy sent home a rebound of a point blank Andrew Kulinski blast that Parypinski stopped.
GW returns home to host two Atlantic 10 foes this weekend. The Colonials face La Salle at the Mt. Vernon Athletic Complex on Friday, Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m. then take on Fordham on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1:00pm.
